Why You Need to Participate in the Aukeman Triathlon

This annual event is not for the faint-hearted and takes you through a series of rigorous obstacles. Are you ready for the challenge? If so, read over our insights and find out everything you’ll need to know about the Aukeman Triathlon.

Pre-Race Information

If you are planning to push your limits, sign up through Active.com! We recommend registering online because you cannot on race day. After you submit your name, you’ll be notified about a mandatory meeting for all racers the Friday before the race at the UAS Mourant Building. This is where you ‘ll get more details about the meet and receive your official packets. Be sure to bring a photo ID to pick up your packet, because no one can pick yours up for you!

There are plenty of public spaces open to you if you are still training. If you want a crash course in what to expect during the race, you can attend the High Cadence Triathlon Training camp a month before the race. And, a series of open water swims with the Glacier Swim Club Masters program will be held. Don’t forget to rent or bring your own wetsuit for the competition, because it’s required!

What Can I Expect

On race day, we suggest arriving at 5:30 a.m. so you’ll have plenty of time to stretch and check in. The Aukeman Triathlon begins at 7:30 a.m. and lasts until the final participant crosses the finish line. Before you go, look over the course online! When the starting gun sounds, you’ll begin with the 750-meter swim across Auke Lake. Then, gear up for the 19-kilometer bike contest through the Alaskan wilderness and finish with a 5-kilometer run down Glacier Highway!
