How to Experience the Eaglecrest Ski Area
The Eaglecrest Ski Area is known as “Juneau’s Winter Playground,” and is a favorite among both locals and visitors alike. Before you hit the slopes, read over our local insights to discover why you should experience the 1,400 feet of vertical distance of this beloved snow-covered destination for yourself!
How to Get Here
Here in Juneau, many visitors rely on city transportation, taxis, rental cars, and ferries to travel around the city and its surrounding areas. But, if you are visiting us on the weekends, you can catch the Eaglecrest Snow Bus to the Eaglecrest Ski Area for a small fee. This convenient service picks up adventurers like yourself from many spots in downtown Juneau. If you wish to use this service, cash is the only acceptable form of payment, so remember to have some on hand!
The High Season
The Eaglecrest Ski Area offers some the best slopes for you to show off your skiing skills during the winter months. Whether you are a local patron or on vacation, there are a wide variety of pricing options such as season passes or day tickets, which can be bought at the Porcupine Lodge. You don’t want to miss the opportunity to experience this challenging place!
When you arrive, you’ll be captivated by all the spectacular things to do! Are you new to the world of skiing or simply wish to brush up on your skills? If so, book a lesson with one of the expert instructors. Or, set your own pace and hit the slopes of the 640 acres of skiable terrain! As you head down the mountain, take in the stunning beauty of the glistening white snow reflecting the sun off of it and delight in the valleys below. It’s also the perfect place to inhale the refreshing mountain air and exhale the stress of your daily routine.
After your thrilling adventures, make your way into the warm indoors and order delicious food from the Eaglecrest Grill, which is located on the second of the Day Lodge. While you’re there, we recommend ordering the exclusive Eaglecrest Blend of signature Heritage Coffee, a Juneau favorite. During the Off Season
During the summer and fall months, the Eaglecrest Ski Area is closed for skiing, but you’ll be delighted by the array of other outdoor adventures waiting for you! In fact, you can create a high-flying adventure with the Alaska Zipline Adventures that rents the area during this time. Or, set your own pace by hiking or biking down any of these trails!
