Visit Glacier Gardens Rainforest Adventure

Glacier Gardens began as a stream restoration project, transforming six-and-a-half acres of storm-damaged property into a living art project with an ecological benefit. It’s owned by Steve and Cindy Bowhay, who also own a local, much-beloved plant nursery.

Take a Tour of the Garden

The garden offers some fantastic tours, utilizing guides and even motorized shuttles! After you check in at the ticket desk, you’ll be led through the lower landscaped gardens with a guide who will inform you about the history of the property and the flowers that compose this area. After, you’ll hop aboard the covered vehicles and travel to the lower gardens, which is located in the Tongass National Forest. Once you reach the peak, you’ll be able to see outstanding views from Thunder Mountain. Finally, the tour ends at the botanical gardens. The tours take around two hours, though your admission is good for all-day access to the botanical gardens. You won’t need to reserve your spot on a tour, as they depart every 10 to 15 minutes.

Explore the Botanical Gardens

Once you’ve finished your tour, feel free to explore the many walking paths that wind through the botanical gardens. Due to the spread-out nature of the gardens and the shuttles that transport visitors back and forth, guests are only allowed to explore the botanical gardens without a guide. If you’re feeling peckish after your tour, stop by the Garden Cafe to enjoy a snack. Be sure to stop by the Garden Gift Shop, where you can buy a souvenir to remember your visit. This is also a great place to purchase a gift for your loved one at home!
