It’s cold but not too cold to want to be outside. And the snow is perfect. Big giant flakes that will also make a nice ball when packed. I know because my son surprised me with one to my right forearm. It didn’t tickle. I got him back so all is good!
And it’s easier to head out when you know you can come on back to the Silverbow to a nice hot cup of cocoa. Top it with marshmallows or raspberry sprinkles or tons of whip cream or have two or even three cups. We won’t tell.
Sit by the fire and read a magazine or play a game and watch the snow fall. That’s what vacations are all about. Speaking of fun treats at the Silverbow – we added some new ones. But I won’t spoil it. You’ll have to visit but here’s a hint. Starts with a CHOC and ends with an E.
Halloween turned out to be a great downtown event. Every store owner I know ran out of candy! And we are all excited about Public Market this weekend at Centennial Hall. It’s a on- stop-to-get-all-your-Christmas-shopping-done place. Spend a day or three in downtown Juneau – buy unique Alaska-made products, have a meal, see Santa, talk to hundreds of people. My favorite is Chilkat Cones. I just bumped into Tony Tengs, the owner yesterday on my way to the Hangar on the Wharf for some burgers, beer and view. He was making thousands of ice cream cones to sell this weekend. He makes gift boxes. I send a few back east each year to family and friends. They are both delicious and unique and who doesn’t like ice cream? He even has gluten free ones!
Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving and stop in and say hi if you’re in town. Or better yet, stay a night and we’ll stock up on the whipped cream!!
