Explore Mount Juneau
Mount Juneau is one of the most popular mountains in Juneau, Alaska, thanks to the gorgeous clear view of the downtown region of the city as well as the well-maintained trail. At its peak, Mount Juneau stretches to 3,576 feet. The easiest way to reach this peak is by hiking the Mount Juneau Trail, which is about a three-mile trail (one-way). To access the Mount Juneau Trail, hikers must first travel to the popular Perseverance Trail, then take Gold Street to Basin Road.
When compared to other mountain trails in the region, the Mount Juneau trail isn’t considered a particularly high peak. However, it is still an invigorating climb and one that will take up most of the visitor’s day. The best season for hiking in this region is from mid-June to mid-September.

Perseverance Trail is very popular with the avid hikers in the area, as it connects easily to Flume Trail, Granite Creek, Silver Bow Ruins, Gold Falls, The Glory Hole Overlook, Red Mill, Mount Juneau, and Mount Roberts. Another great option is East Glacier Loop, which is just 13 miles from downtown Juneau. This trail system begins at the Mendenhall Lake and winds through mountainous terrain. Salmon Creek Trail is another fantastic hike. It starts one-mile from downtown Juneau and ends at Salmon Creek Dam.
