Hiking Mount Roberts
Explore the Mount Roberts Trail
The Mount Roberts Trailhead is about a 15-minute walk from Silverbow Inn. In total, the trail is about 4.5 miles long, with a climb of about 4,000 feet. One of the biggest appeals of this hike is the amazing views, though you don’t have to hike all the way to the top to enjoy them as they start at 2,000-feet. Once you get to the summit, you’ll be able to enjoy the wonderful attractions and other trails that are on the top of Mount Roberts.
Traveling the Mount Roberts Tramway
If you’re not an experienced hiker, you may consider taking the tramway to the top of Mount Roberts and hiking the Mount Roberts Alpine Loop Trail. To get there, you’ll have to purchase a ticket to the Mount Roberts Tramway. This is the only tramway in Southeast Alaska and is fully ADA compliant. It opened in 1996 and has been a popular stop for visitors of Juneau ever since. You can purchase tickets for the tramway at the station, which is just a nine-minute walk from Silverbow Inn. Passes are just $34 for adults and $17 for children aged three to 12. The Tramway is open every day of the week from May to September, and it runs from 11:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Hike the Mount Roberts Alpine Loop Trail
This short connector trail starts from the Mountain House at the summit of Mount Roberts. It’s a short trail but features some wonderful views of the surrounding mountains. This is a much easier trail to travel, and it has clear markers along the path.

Once you are finished hiking, head to the restaurant within the tramway to enjoy a delicious sandwich, salad, or scrumptious dessert. They also have an outdoor deck, so that you can enjoy a locally brewed beer with a wonderful meal. You can also visit the Nature Center, which educates visitors on the local flora and fauna.
