Sustainability & Diversity

sustainability at silverbow inn

Not just a buzzword

Saying you’re sustainable seems to be what all the cool kids are doing now, but do they mean it? We like to fancy ourselves both cool and sincere. We care a LOT about doing our little part for the wellbeing of Earth, so we put these sustainability initiatives and practices listed below into place long ago. If we may brag (just a little), we’re proud to have the highest Booking.com sustainability badge. When we say we’re an environmentally friendly downtown Juneau hotel, we mean it!

Diversity & Inclusion

You are welcome here. And by “you,” we mean absolutely everyone. It doesn’t matter to us what you look like (but you’re beautiful, did you know?), where you call home, who you love, what you believe in, or any other aspect of what makes you, you. Or rather, we would never discriminate against anyone for any reason. We DO care about you! Would you like to stop by for a chat and tell us about your journey to Juneau or your journey in life? Yes, please.

The more voices we have at Silverbow, the more beautiful the music. This extends well beyond our guests to all of our incredible staff, and to those who help keep Silverbow the wonderful gathering place that it is, from plumbers to delivery drivers. We rejoice in the similarities we share (and we share a ton) and in each and every difference. Differences mean variety, and variety is the spice of life.

in our community

Giving Back

At Silverbow Inn, we believe hospitality extends beyond our walls and into our community. Each year, we support local organizations whose missions align with our values of cultural preservation, civic engagement, and environmental stewardship. Our ongoing contributions include donations to WorldQuest by the Juneau World Affairs Council and sponsorship of the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council’s iconic Wearable Arts event. We’ve also collaborated with KTOO and offered support to efforts like the revitalization of the Kiks.ádi X’aaká Hít Point House, reflecting our respect for and solidarity with the Tlingit community.

As we grow, we’re refining our annual giving to focus on organizations with shared values and clear impact—especially those that offer community visibility in return. We’re exploring long-term partnerships with groups like SEACC, the Pro-Choice Coalition, and the League of Women Voters to deepen our commitment to justice, sustainability, and equity in Southeast Alaska.

If your nonprofit or event aligns with our mission, we invite you to submit a request through our donation request form for consideration. While we prioritize annual partnerships, we do evaluate select one-time opportunities throughout the year.
