Brews & Views:
A Perfect Pairing in Juneau, Alaska
There’s something magical about enjoying a cold craft beer while taking in the views of Juneau. The mountains meet the sea, bald eagles soar overhead, and the crisp coastal air smells of adventure. I recently had the chance to experience Brews and Views in Juneau, and it was one of those outings that makes you fall in love with this city all over again.
Alaska on Tap hosts these brewery tours to showcase Juneau’s finest brews and breathtaking views. It was a fun guided tour that provided a great way for the group to sip our way through Juneau’s craft beer scene.
The day started at Devil’s Club Brewing Company, a cozy, laid-back taproom right in the heart of downtown. Their rotating lineup of beers feels like a love letter to Alaska. It’s creative, full-flavored, and brewed with care. I went for a flight so I could sample a bit of everything. The Stonefruit Sour was the standout for me. It’s intense, with a tartness that offers a refreshing and adventurous experience.

From there, we wandered to Forbidden Peak Brewery, where the atmosphere feels as adventurous as the name suggests. Their tap list leans into bold flavors, and the Spruce Tip Ale I tried was bright, piney, and somehow both rugged and refreshing, like a hike in a glass. With windows framing panoramic mountain views, it’s the kind of place where you want to linger a while if there wasn’t more to see and drink!

We wrapped up at Alaskan Brewing Co.’s Depot, where the beer selection is legendary. Sipping their flagship Alaskan Amber felt like the perfect pause to soak in the day (and the alcohol) with a generous serving of snacking on Barnacle’s delicious, very Southeastern Alaskan fare.

The guides are as passionate about storytelling as they are about beer, so you leave with both great drinks and a deeper appreciation for Juneau and its breweries’ history.
What makes Brews and Views so special is the way it blends local flavor with local beauty. You’re not just tasting beer—you’re tasting Juneau: the wild landscape, the maritime heritage, the creative spirit that thrives here. Whether you’re a beer connoisseur or just someone who loves a good pint in a great place, this is an experience worth raising a glass to.
Tip: Bring your camera… you’ll want proof that the views were as good as you remember.
